The Kansas Authors Club District 6 meeting on 1-26-19 was unique. Members and guests gathered at Hutchinson Community College Student Union, Alumni Room at 1:30. Because elections had not taken place in December, and because the previous president had transferred his membership to District 5, Jim Potter greeted the room full of 26 curious people. After explaining the circumstances, elections were held and for the first time in over a year the District 6 Kansas Authors Club had a full roster of enthusiastic officers! The results are:
- President: Jim Potter
- Vice President: Phil Wood
- Secretary: J. Alex Potter
- Treasurer: Kimberly Simmons
Announcements were made and handouts provided for those present.
The guest speaker was introduced. Gina Laiso, Printing Consultant for Mennonite Press, Newton, KS, presented an informative and inspiring program on the many questions that arise when considering self-publishing a book. She displayed examples of the varied choices an author has including editing, formatting, binding, papers and design. She can be reached at [email protected] or 800.536.4686 x 123.
After the program, people in the room introduced themselves and (those who wanted to) told a little about their interests.
The meeting concluded and there was time for visiting until 3:30.
