FEBRUARY 26, 2022, IS FOR SHARING YOUR WRITING. NO GUEST SPEAKER. SEE WRITING PROMPTS BELOW.
Won’t you join us Saturday? If you’re ready to share your writing, practice promoting yourself or your new book, or only want to listen, then mark your calendar. We’ll gather together virtually this coming Saturday, February 26, @ 1:30 PM.
As much as I enjoy a formal program with a guest speaker, I also look forward to getting an opportunity to meet our D6 members for a conversation. We all have stories, some of which can be enlightening to another writer.
If you want to share your writing, it can be new or old or somewhere in between. If you’re looking for a writing prompt for poetry or prose, here are a few ideas from Cheryl Unruh’s series, “Writing Our Stories.”
What’s a song that’s meant something to you (and why)?
Where’s a place you’ve lived that’s special (and why)?
What’s a fun time you’ve had with a friend?

- Write a humorous Irish poem. Considering that much of the traditional Irish poetry can be deep and depressive, this is a writing challenge.
- After years of collecting stuff, s/he had begun to empty the storage room of junk. On returning to the room after each trip to the dumpster, the new open space seemed to magically replenish itself with boxes, nicknacks, and dust. The junk room, alias “storage room,” was a bottomless pit. Opening an old cardboard box, her/his month dropped. “I can never, ever throw this away,” s/he declared.--- If you were this person, what’s in the box, and why is it so precious?
- You discover your partner is a robot.
- “Jim,” she whispers as she shakes her sleeping husband, “someone’s in the house.”
